IONIQ Forest Project
Hyundai Motor and Good Neighbors support mangrove restoration to strengthen coastal resilience in Ca Mau
From June 29 to July 15, 2025, IUCN, in collaboration with the Management Board of Special-Use and Coastal Protection Forests of Ca Mau Province, planted more than 80,000 mangrove trees across 18 hectares in Hoa Binh District. The activity is part of the project “Scaling up Nature-based Solutions (NbS) through mangrove restoration in Ca Mau Province,” which has been implemented by IUCN since October 2023 with funding from Hyundai Motor Company and Good Neighbors International under the global CSR initiative “IONIQ Forest.”
The project aims to establish a sustainable integrated mangrove–shrimp farming model, plant a total of 160,000 mangrove trees, promote forest-friendly aquaculture practices, and pilot the application of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs). IONIQ Forest serves as a pilot initiative demonstrating the effectiveness of combining mangrove restoration with aquaculture, contributing to the broader adoption of NbS across climate-vulnerable coastal areas of the Mekong Delta.
